Today at 11.46pm I became a Great Granny - Little Renée weighed in at 7lbs 13oz - Baby and Mummy are doing very well.

Jessica's waters broke at 9.30am yesterday morning but no sign of labour pains so the hospital told her that if she hadn't started labour by 9am this morning to go to the hospital then because of risk of infection.

However she started labour at 11.30pm last night and was then told to come straight in.  She opted for a water birth with just gas and air for a pain relief.

Adam stayed with her throughout and was giving me updates throughout the night.  He sent me a photo of Jess with the babe in her arms as soon as all was tidied up and Jess and baby were comfortable.  Then at 2pm Jess and Adam FaceTimed me for a few minutes so I could see all three of them as a new family.

Because of her waters breaking so early before birth Jess has to stay in hospital until 12 hours after the birth.  That will bring her up to midnight but whether she will stay until morning she will decide later.

I'm so excited now to be a Great Granny.
